🧟 Infection, Water and the Five Horrors: What Just Went Live

🧟 The world is running. Here is what is live right now.

The vanilla chapter is over and the zombie survival realm is being built in the open. Everything below already works on our test server.

💀 The dead own the world

• Both continents are overrun: thousands of the infected stand where people used to live, and the open field is worse than the towns.
• Five kinds of walkers - from the slow Shambler to the Screamer that calls the horde down on you and the Butcher that hits like a truck.
• Water and food now drop off the dead - and that is the only way to cross the map without running dry.

👑 The five horrors

Five named boss-tier infected walk among the horde: Gorrak the Blightbrute, Sister Vexlia, Gristle, Warcaller Dragh and The Keening Widow.

• Outside the capitals about 1 in 33 of the dead is one of them - a fight for one to three people.
• Inside the capitals it is 1 in 10, and that is a job for a full group: the capitals are a war zone.
• They come back every 4 hours and they carry real gear - weapons and armour for every class, with a chance at something blue.

☣️ Infection - the dead are contagious

• Every bite infects you.
• Every scrap of food and drink you take off a corpse is spoiled: it fills you up, and it infects you. Meat off the dead is the fastest way in.
• The quartermaster's rations in the safe zone are clean - that is what you pay for. Food conjured by a mage is clean too: magic does not carry the plague.
• Infection builds in stages, every 20%: wounds close slower, you take more damage, and at the deep stages the plague eats you alive.
• It fades on its own while you stay clean - but slowly. (Update 27.09.2026: it does not fade any more - what you have is what you keep. See the newest post.)

💰 The economy is closed

• Vendors no longer buy weapons and armour. Junk, materials and reagents still sell - gear does not.
• Gear comes from the dead and from crafting, not from farming vendor trash. Nothing you loot loses its value overnight.

🎭 And from before

Choose your faction once, in the quarantine camp - The Survivors, The Loners or The Remnant - and it stays next to your character on the selection screen. Then keep two bars up: you must eat and you must drink, and running, swimming and fighting burn them fast.

What comes next

The cure: medicine, serums and the fight to push infection back down. Then class skills, and the rest.
